When’s the last time a theater in San Francisco asked your opinion for their upcoming season? Oh, right…never! That’s the beauty of having a world class performing arts theater here in the Tri Valley. The Bankhead Theater actually wants your input for its 2010-11 season. Suggest your favorite artists, dance companies, theater performances, operas, speakers and more.
There are two ways to make your suggestions known:
First, visit the theater’s discussion board on Facebook, and offer your suggestions. If you aren't already a Bankhead Theater Facebook Fan, sign up today and let your voice be heard!
Second, take the LVPAC Patron Survey, www.zoomerang.com, and give them your feedback about the past, present and future of the Bankhead Theater, LVPAC Presents performances, the types of theatre you enjoy and music genres you listen to, the proposed Regional Theater, BART downtown, and other theater specific questions.
When you offer your feedback, you’ll have the opportunity to win free tickets to upcoming performances.

“Ready,
Set, Bag!” is a distinctly American story told with heart and humor. It
stars state champions from across the United States working to win the
National Grocers Association’s Best Bagger competition. Using the
competition as a backdrop, the documentary is about regular folks who
find fulfillment in their work, always challenge themselves to do
better, and take care not to crush the eggs! It’s a surprising, fun
film.
Save the date! Our friend, Justine Jacob, is screening her
award-winning film, “Ready, Set, Bag!” at The Vine at 7 p.m. on
Wednesday, Feb. 3 and 10.
Plus, after the screening, there will
be a Q&A with the directors as well as a showing of the
Oscar-nominated Jim Capobianco’s new short film, “Leonardo.” For more
info, reviews and trailer: www.readysetbag.com

Do you have old televisions, monitors and cell phones collecting dust? How about usable crutches, walkers or canes? There’s a chance this Saturday to get rid of your old stuff and help the hungry in the Tri Valley and earthquake victims in Haiti.
Open Heart Kitchen and the Pleasanton Rotary Club are partnering this Saturday, Jan. 30, to offer a combined collection event at the Amador Valley High parking lot from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Rotary members will be on hand to collect crutches, wheel chairs, walkers and canes for MedShare which will ship them to Haiti. Simultaneously, Open Heart Kitchen will be collecting televisions, monitors, laptops, flat screens, cell phones and ink jet cartridges for free. All proceeds from the e-waste event will support Open Heart Kitchen’s free meal programs.

One of Pleasanton’s pride and joys, of course, is its downtown area. Our Main Street
is home to lots of fun shops, original boutiques and great restaurants.
One of the best ways to experience it is by participating in a special
event, like the upcoming “Truffles, Tidbits & Wine Tasting” on
Thursday, Feb. 4, from 6-9 p.m. Livermore wineries will be pouring red and white wines, ports, dessert wines and champagnes.
Only 800 tickets are being sold for this year’s sip-nibble-and-stroll event, so act fast if you don’t want to miss out on the fun! Tickets are $25 and can be purchased at the following Main Street locations: clover Creek, Studio 7 Fine Arts, Towne Center books and the Pleasanton Downtown Association.

When you’re checking the movie listings, don’t forget to look for The Vine in Livermore. We love this theater – and as one of the only independent theaters in the area, we encourage your support!
A friend of The Fabulous Properties Team recently saw The Young Victoria there. Here’s her review:
“I did not want to see The Young Victoria -- not a big fan of period films especially about the Royals -- and wouldn't have seen it if it hadn't been at the Vine -- but it was so beautiful that I was teary-eyed ... the story, scenery, costumes, and music. Most of the audience of nearly 50 stayed through all the credits, which is always a good sign. I heard someone say, "Is it over already?" In the next theater, Precious was doing well too, in its 3rd week. The 7 p.m. crowd was lined up for tickets, popcorn and wine, with Zephyr running over lots of food orders. Coming Friday is A Single Man -- looks excellent!”
There you have it! You can find The Vine’s listings online at http://www.vinecinema.com/ Now playing: The Young Victoria (PG, Broken Embraces (Los Abrazos Rotos) (R) and Precious (R).
This Sunday, The Vine will be showing the NFL Football Playoff games free of charge. Come watch New England vs. Baltimore at 10 a.m., followed by Jets vs. Chargers, 1:30 p.m.
It goes without saying that the mortgage crisis has had a tremendous impact on how loans are being underwritten. Some of the lenders we work with have sent us over some info on the types of details and documentation now required. Many of these new rules are unprecedented in the mortgage business. To keep your loan on track, here are potential pitfalls to avoid:
1. Declining
income: Lenders are concerned about that a declining income could
signal a company going out of business or an impending lay off. Most
will only consider current income. Past income levels will not be considered.
2. Periods of unemployment: If
you have a gap in employment of more than two months, lenders may
require that you have been in your current job for at least six months
or longer before approving your loan.
3. Unreimbursed
business expenses: All loans now require lenders to order a 4506T,
which is the buyer’s tax return, directly from the Internal Revenue
Service. There are two items on the return that can cause a loan to be
denied for insufficient income: unreimbursed business expenses and
business losses. If your tax return includes those two items, the
amounts must be deducted directly from the borrower’s income, which can
lead to a lower income level.
4. Tighter
debt to ration requirements: Loans are analyzed for the percentage of
debt to borrower’s income. In the past, approvals were granted for 50
percent and 60 percent. Those days are over. The new version of Desktop
Underwriter has a maximum approval ratio of 45 percent.
5. Credit
reports. Most lenders now require a minimum 620 credit score to approve
a loan. On conventional loans, credit scores of 720 to 740 are
required. Additionally, any inquiries on your credit report must be explained in writing.
6. Bank
statements: Loan officers now collect and review all bank statements.
All sizable deposits require an explanation and proof of source. And,
any notice of insufficient funds on bank statements is a negative
factor.
If
you have concerns about whether you will be able to qualify for a loan
under these new requirements, give us a call. We’ll be happy to put you
in touch with a knowledgeable mortgage broker so that any potential
worries can be addressed before you enter the loan process.

Every minute of the day, someone needs blood.
That blood can only come from donors. Yet, currently only three out of
every 100 people in American donate blood. Are you in that select
group? If not, here’s the perfect opportunity to step up. A mobile blood drive for the American Red Cross is planned for 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. this Saturday, Jan. 9, in the hall at St. Augustine’s Catholic Church, 3999 Bernal Ave. To make an appointment, call 800-448-3543 or register online at http://helpsavealife.org

A very special afternoon is planned for Jan. 2 at Amador Valley High School in memory of our dear friend, Susan Dawson, who recently passed away from complications due to ***-cancer.
Susan was a tireless supporter of the Amador Valley boy’s soccer team. In her honor, both Amador teams and the leadership class are partnering with ValleyCare Health System and the Ryan Comer Cancer Library to host “Kick for the Cure” game on Jan. 2. JV will play at 11 a.m. and varsity will play at 1 p.m. at Amador against Richmond High School. A brief ceremony to honor Susan will take place during the varsity halftime.
Admission to the game is free, but donations will be accepted for theValleyCare Cancer library. “Book Angels” will be sold for $10 to help purchase *** cancer educational materials. A “book angel” is a book plate that is placed in the front of a book and a special one has been designed in Susan’s memory.
If you cannot attend, but would like to purchase a book plate, you can do so online at the ValleyCare website, http://www.valleycare.com/support/support_events.html or by dropping off your donation at the ValleyCare Health Library, 5725 W. Las Positas Blvd., suite 270, in Pleasanton.
We hope you will all be able to attend and support this wonderful effort to increase *** cancer awareness as well as honor Susan Dawson.
note - we appologize, but our blog is inserting astericks in place of the word *** cancer. This is a system issue that we can't override.
